Who we are

Our mission is to grow and nurture First Nations Country music by amplifying the voices and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists at every stage of their journey. We believe in the power of Country music to connect people, share culture, and strengthen community.

Through opportunities for learning, collaboration, and performance, we aim to create spaces where First Nations artists can develop their craft, tell their stories with pride, and be heard across the nation. In doing so, we honour our cultural roots, celebrate our resilience, and keep our songlines alive for future generations.

The Alliance is led by Simon Johnson, a proud descendant of the Yorta Yorta people, whose ancestral lands lie along the Goulburn and Murray Rivers in northern Victoria and southern New South Wales. Simon is a highly respected and sought-after producer and musician within the Australian Country Music industry.

With over 20 years of touring experience across Australia and internationally as a bass guitarist and record producer for leading artists Simon brings deep industry knowledge and a passion for mentoring the next generation of talent. As Director and Owner of the First Nations Country Music Alliance, he is committed to realising the organisation’s mission and strengthening the presence of First Nations voices in Country music.
